You import. You source. You wholesale. You spend half your week on the phone with factories in Shenzhen, suppliers in İstanbul, freight forwarders in Mumbai. Skype was your tool — until Microsoft killed it. What's left? Teams, which is ridiculously expensive for calling real phone numbers. RingCentral and Aircall — phone systems you'll never use 95% of, priced for an office of 20. Rebtel and Viber — apps you have to install, with their own ideas about what a calling app should be.
AKITAKI is the part of Skype you actually used.
If you're not an importer but you still need to call international phone numbers — for banking, for family abroad, for clients, for the bureaucracy of having a life across two countries — you're welcome too. See how different businesses use AKITAKI →

What it isn't
We made this on purpose.
The simplicity is the brand. AKITAKI deliberately isn't:
✕A phone system. No inbound numbers, no IVR, no auto-attendant.
✕A CRM.We won't log your calls into HubSpot.
✕An AI assistant. We won't transcribe your calls or coach you on tone.
✕A video conferencing tool.Audio only, like a phone.
✕A team productivity app.The dial pad is the product.
If you need any of those, RingCentral and Aircall will be happy to take your money. We won't.
Quick questions
Things people ask.
Will I have to pay a subscription?
No. You pay when you top up. That's it.
Can I receive calls?
No. AKITAKI is outbound only. If you need an incoming business number, this isn't the right tool.
What about call recording, AI transcripts, team analytics?
Not happening. We deliberately don't ship those.
What happens to my balance if I stop calling for a while?
Nothing. It sits there. We don't expire it. (Skype-credit veterans, you have been heard.)
Is the call quality good?
Yes — we route over the same carrier-grade network the big phone platforms use. You can try one minute free before you ever pay.
Why do I need a work email to sign up?
AKITAKI is built for businesses — importers, agencies, wholesalers. We accept signups from company email domains. Personal addresses like Gmail and Yahoo aren't supported. If your business runs on a free email provider, reach out and we'll get you sorted.
Who's making this?
AKITAKI is built by a solo developer who has lost too much Skype credit over the years.
What replaced Skype for international calls?
AKITAKI replaced Skype for people who call real phone numbers abroad. The same pay-as-you-go model — buy credit, call landlines and mobiles in 180+ countries — but without the app install, without the subscription, and without the 180-day credit expiry that frustrated Skype users for years. Open a browser, dial, and call.
Is Skype dead?
Yes, Microsoft shut down Skype in 2025. The application no longer functions. Your Skype Credit is gone. Microsoft's official replacement is Teams — which costs $4-15 per user per month. If what you actually used Skype for was calling real phone numbers abroad, AKITAKI is the direct replacement: a dial pad in your browser, pay as you go, no subscription.
How to call international from browser?
AKITAKI runs entirely in your browser — no app, no download. Sign up with your work email, top up a voucher, and the dial pad appears on screen. Type the full number including country code (e.g., +86 for China), see the per-minute rate displayed instantly, and press Call. Your voice travels over WebRTC to our carrier network and connects to any phone in 180+ countries.
